inspired by babyart - batgirl edition

posting the above pic on instagram prompted quite a few reinterpretations - pretty russian girls (predominantly) making themselves scary and unpretty in the name of babyart cosplay

a few people also commenting it looks like plaaastic - which it does - but it was actually based on a painting i did back in 2001 - as plaaastic apparently always a fan of my work, it’s possible she may have styled her hair after that painting? - i doubt it really ...tho she did dye her hair blue inspired by another of my paintings

tama - rosette exhibition

vanilla gallery 21 november to 03 december - 500yen

so happy to meet tama again and see new works (i apologise for being hopeless to talk to, tama!)



my shopping haul: post cards, book and mirror - the book is a limited (?) "best of" collection published by the gallery - hard cover in slipcase - A4 size - does contain several new previously unpublished works - supplemented by a couple of post card sets - tho still i think some works in the exhibition yet to be printed (wah! i need everything!)



this was my favourite - predictably! - and, predictably, it had already sold   : /

mirror - there were also badges and stickers and things, and a calendar - but i don't even know what day of the week it is,  i never use calendars (except maybe for marking tama exhibition dates!)

a book currently in production of the nananano “trecos” (trevor cosplay) works - 22 altogether - we wanted to do a few more new ones but other members of “the team” (the photographer, make-up and cg artists) howled in protest - the book will however include some behind-the-scenes offshot photos 

an exhibition being planned at span art gallery the first week of february to coincide with the book’s release - as the work previously shown at span art, i actually really wanted to do the exhibition in osaka - but that never worked out - are there no good galleries anywhere any more? (that want me!) [don’t answer that, rhetorical question] 

i think it’ll be more a nananano exhibition than a trevor brown exhibition, as i have depleted original works available (only half a dozen?) - there is one nice new (i.e. unseen) painting tho - doll artist mari shimizu called in to provide some back-up - she’ll be making a new doll inspired by my work(!) - and there’ll be a book-signing event, needless to say - more detais later...

babyakaneko - "grave robber", "burned out" and "pink rose" - i'm pretty sure she's my number one biggest fan in japan - so, not to be out-beaten, she's made three entries - but she already won my heart years ago
